  "message": "Fully unexport X509_VAL.\n\nAfter https://boringssl-review.googlesource.com/c/boringssl/+/45965,\nX509_VAL became largely unusable. While it did still exist as an\nASN1_ITEM and we emitted d2i/i2d/new/free functions, there is no way to\naccess its contents. Thus, hide it entirely.\n\nInterestingly, although we got that to stick a while ago, I missed that\nOpenSSL actually keeps X509_VAL exported, so it\u0027s possible we\u0027ll find 3p\ncode that uses this later. Since a standalone X509_VAL isn\u0027t especially\nuseful to construct or encode, this is most likely to come up in code\ndefining new types with \u003copenssl/asn1t.h\u003e.\n\nStill, if we need to rexport this later (revert this *and* bring back\nthe struct), it won\u0027t be a big deal. Nothing in the public API even\nconstrains X509 to use X509_VAL.\n\nUpdate-Note: The last remnants of the now (barely usable) X509_VAL are\nno longer exported.
